    To conclude, sports are an important part of every society, country and individual. In one way or the other everyone is involved in sports of some sort whether one is playing or watching. There are two kinds of sports- individual sports and team sports. In a team, all members play together, and everyone help the team to win. The nation always needs its heroes to have someone to be a guiding star for a young generation. Numerous sports personalities with their efforts and hard work show that everything is possible in this world. Also, they demonstrate the great effects of constant sports activities and team sports participation. These people give us a strong motivation to go in for sports and become better every day. Well-known athletes encourage the youth in the country and outlines for them every great advantage of sports. The feeling of nationalism is indispensable to the idea of nation-building. Apart from religion (which has been aptly described as “opium of the masses” by Karl Marx), sports is the only common thread that binds people together and helps in developing a feeling of patriotism and unity that can counter regional factionalism and sinister design of various separatist forces. It helps in elevating qualities like discipline, determination, teamwork and a passion for fitness in the psyche of a nation. After the industrial revolution, our lives have become far more sedentary than our predecessors, thanks to the various comforts brought in by the advent of technology. Many of these scientific achievements which we take for granted, have made our lives considerably easier and have reduced our level of physical activity. In the words of Sadhguru, “Only when your activity is exuberant, will you keep crossing limits. Sports is an exuberant activity, so crossing limits becomes natural.” Any major international sporting event like the Olympics or a World Cup promotes universal brotherhood and gives one a sense of belonging to a larger global community. Sportspeople have always been very successful goodwill ambassadors for any country and have admirers across borders. The moment we hear ‘Brazil’ or ‘Argentina’. one of the first thoughts that cross our mind is that of football and its legends “Pele” and “Maradona”. Nelson Mandela’s beautiful quote sums up it up in a very meaningful way. “Sport has the power to change the world,” Mandela said. “It has the power to inspire. It has the power to unite people in a way that little else does. It speaks to youth in a language they understand. Sport can create hope where once there was only despair. It is more powerful than government in breaking down racial barriers.”
